ZUMBINI IN INDIA
A Zümbini™ class is a celebration of the power of music to enhance lives, stimulate learning, inspire dance and movement, and strengthen the bond between the caregiver and the child.
Zümbini™ sessions are designed by Zumba® for a mixed-age groups of children accompanied of at least 1 adult; Babies from 0+ to toddlers up to 4 years old, experiencing dance and movement through music in a 45-minute class; during the class you will sing and move to songs and rhythmic rhymes in a variety of meters and tonalities by participating in activities that include small and large movements, instrument play-alongs, community singing and repetition.
These fun activities are presented as informal, non-performance-oriented musical experiences that are developmentally appropriate for children and easy for parents and caregivers to participate in regardless of their own musical ability.
Is Zümbini™ for baby/mom exclusively?
No, this is an excellent program for dads, grandparents, other relatives and nannies that would like to bond with a child, its fun, and a great activity to share with the little ones. Caregiver must be 18 years or older to take a Zümbini™ and must be registered as authorized caregiver.
Expected music behavior according to age
· Birth to 4 months. Awareness of music starts almost immediately by responding differently to different kind of music, he/she quiets himself/herself during a soothing lullaby and became more active when lively music is played.
· 4 to 8 months. Musical awareness became more active; baby enjoys listening intently to all kind of sounds in the environment, by turning his/her head towards the source of the sound.
· 10 to 18 months. Expression of music preference begins, they may begin indicating types of music he/she likes best, many infants at this age prefer vocal to instrumental, as well showing clear displeasure when music he/she doesn’t like, they also rock or sways its hips to a familiar tune, although not necessarily in time with the music, and claps hands to pleasing song.
· 18 to 2 years. Exploration of musical sounds increases, all sounds captivate the toddler, developing language skills and increasing mobility allowing the toddler to seek out sounds that please him/her the most
· 2 to 3 years. Dance begins. The toddler now attempts to “dance” to music by bending his/her knees in bouncing motion, turning circles, swaying, swinging his/her arms and nodding his/her head. They may show an increasing ability to keep time and follow directions in musical games, which he/she loves. Toddlers now can pay attention for longer periods and also lie or sit down quietly and listen for several minutes at a time.
