The Mulund police have booked Sharma for rash driving which cost the life of one of his colleague.

The mishap occurred minutes after the four dropped their colleague Khushboo Thakkar. Sharma has been booked under the Indian Penal Code sections for 279 (rash driving), 304 (A) (causing death by negligence) and 338 (grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others). He is also booked under the Motor Vehicle Act section 184 (driving dangerously). Mahopol’s statement has been recorded who escaped with minor injuries.

In the statement, he said, “The mishap occurred when the car jumped a speed breaker on LBS Marg which Sharma did not noticed.”

After jumping the breaker, according to Mahopol, the vehicle jumped the centre road divider and went on to the other side of the road near Vasant Oscar residential complex on LBS Marg and hit on to 3-4 parked bikes before crashing on to a roadside tree. Motorists passing from the spot of incident informed the police who rushed to the spot and took the injured to the hospital. “Bhandhary was declared dead on admission at the hospital. Sharma’s blood sample has been taken to check whether he was drunk at the time of incident,” said a police officer.

They left office at around 1am to drop their female colleague in Mulund.
