Mood Indigo, IIT-Bombay’s popular fest, drew to a close on Monday with the audience at the jam-packed open air theatre at the IIT in Powai swaying to Bollywood singer Mohit Chauhan’s tunes. With over 24,000 students dropping in for the final day, the four-day festival this year recorded a footfall of more than 1,04,000 students from over 3,000 colleges across the country.
Day Four saw performances by Ana Gog, the Irish band, Robin Sukroso, a musician from Berlin, and several other international acts, besides that of Shantanu Pandit from Delhi (American country music). There was also a DJing workshop, cake art and chocolate-carving workshop and Bongsantal Mask Dance.
Students had been waiting in a long queue since 4am for passes to the day’s events that were — as usual —distributed at noon on Monday.
“When they started distributing the passes, it turned very chaotic. To control the crowd, people form the organizing college started shoving and manhandling people. I was waiting since 7am but didn’t manage to get a concert pass,” said a student of IIT-Kharagpur, who was in the city to attend Mood-I. Some others in the queue said the situation was brought under control soon.
