If you grew up watching and admiring Rishi Kapoor’s charming moves in songs from the ’70s, you might just be treated to a trip down memory lane through his upcoming film.
We’re told that in Chashme Baddoor, director David Dhawan’s next project, Kapoor will hit the dance floors once again for a special tap-dance routine. The last time he showed off this style was in the song, ‘Mil gaya humko saathi’ from the film Hum Kisise Kum Naheen (HKKN, 1977).
A source close to the film says, “Kapoor will tap dance with actor Ali Zafar in the song ‘Early morning’. The video will feature him in a jovial mood where he matches his moves to the tune.” The veteran actor will also sport a unique look in the film. He will be seen riding a Harley Davidson bike in the by-lanes of Goa and sporting innumerable tattoos. “Kapoor’s look will surprise viewers,” says the source, adding, “The steps in the song will remind you of his dance in the song from HKKN.”
Dhawan feels that this dance routine added an extra spark to the song video. Ask him about Kapoor making a dance comeback of sorts after 36 years and he says, “What do I say about Rishi? He is a charmer, who loves acting and dancing. He had some pain in his knee while we were shooting this song and he told me, ‘knee mein pain ho raha hai, (My knee is hurting). Hope I can do the steps perfectly.’ Rishi rehearsed just once and we shot the song in one go. It was perfect!”
He goes on to add, “He has been in the industry for more then three decades and is a great guy to work with! The music and Ganesh’s (Acharya, choreographer) steps are superb. As the song demanded tap-dancing, I am sure all his fans are going to love watching him do that after many years.”
