A few alert citizens from Marol Military Road helped the police nab four people moving suspiciously in their locality. The four men were arrested with gold and silver jewellery, as well as Rs13,000 cash.“We take all calls from citizens seriously and thus the moment we got a call about suspicious movement of four men, we immediately rushed to the spot and nabbed them,” said Powai police inspector (crime) Yaqoob Mulla.
According to the investigation officer of the case, Powai police inspector (detection) Vijay Mane, the accused, Sandeep and Laandya Bhosle and Ramesh and Kishore Kale, were found in possession of gold worth Rs31,750. They were also found with silver jewellery worth Rs12,300 and Rs13,000 cash.
“They were moving around a jewellery shop where they would possibly sell the ornaments. However, we have currently booked them under section 41(1)(D) of CrPc and we will get a better picture if we get their custody from the court,” said Powai senior inspector, Bajirao Bhosle.
According to the police, the men failed to prove their ownership of the cash and the ornaments found with them.
Besides, their loitering aimlessly too raised suspicion as none of them were locals. The police said that they will include sections under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) eventually if needed.
