The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-B) has a vacancy for a trained snake catcher. Earlier two students were used to double up as serpent charmer. The opening was advertised in the institute’s in-house newspaper Insight.
The snake catcher would either be a staffer who would be sent for training or someone already trained who can be on the campus round the clock.
The institute is located in the green suburbs of Powai and surrounded by greenery. IIT Bombay’s proximity to Borivali National Park means that snakes sometimes make their way into IIT’s campus.
Pinaki Mishra, Antanu Sarkar and Amey Sahastrabuddhe are the three IIT-Bombay students who used to catch snakes earlier. The three are studying in the institute’s division of Science
