Two sub-inspectors, attached to Powai police station, sustained severe injuries on Saturday after they fell from the asbestos roof while chasing two robbers. The incident happened in Tunga village. According to the police, the cops were investigating a case of robbery and had got a tip-off about the whereabouts of two accused from an arrested accused. Noor Ali, a habitual robber, was arrested by the police at around 12 pm on Saturday in connection with a robbery case. On initial interrogation, the accused disclosed the locations of his accomplices. Soon after which a team rushed to the spot near Gaondevi Temple in Tunga village and found the two accused hiding on a rooftop. On seeing the two officers, Sachin Dhavte and Sushil Bhosale, they jumped up and started running. The two officers chased them along the rooftop itself when suddenly the asbestos sheet came down crashing. The two accused however managed to escape in the process. Following the incident, Dhavte and Bhosale were rushed to Hiranandani Hospital, located nearby.
