Mumbai: ‘Nagarapanchami’ Celebrated at Mahashesha Rundamalini Mandir

‘Nagarapanchami’ was celebrated at Mahashesha Rundamalini Mandir, Powai, Andheri (East), led by religious leader Suvarna Baba, recently.

Swami Vidhyadisha of Palimar Mutt, Udupi, graced the occasion and held a religious discourse on the occasion.

The incidence of H1N1 in the city this monsoon has been as peculiar as the behaviour of the virus itself. After lying dormant for whole of 2011, the virus came back in circulation in March and peaked in July with 116 cases. Duo steals cheques worth `20 lakh from ATM kiosks, held

Two men, who allegedly stole cheques worth Rs. 20 lakh from drop boxes at ATM kiosks in Mumbai, Rajasthan and Gujarat over the last one-and-a-half year, were arrested from their residence in Bhayander on Friday. Deeparam Chowdhary, 30, and his brother-in-law Karsan Chowdhary, 27, have beenon the run since 2011.

Musical treat in Kargil

Musicians Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Nooraniand Loy Mendonsa will bring in Kargil Vijay Divas tomorrow at Ground Zero, the Indian Army base in Jammu and Kashmir’s Drass sector.

The trio, along with singer Akriti Kakkar have been invited to perform for the Indian Army personnel there. Over 2000 civilians from the Kargil area are also expected to attend the event. “It’s an opportunity we’ll cherish for the rest of our lives,” says Mahadevan, who is also taking his family along. The composers will reach the base today and will be staying at the army quarters. They will be joined by director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. “Rakeysh will also be taking us around, as he’s been to Drass before,” Shankar says.
